1. PF account transfer while switching jobs to be automatic soon
Chief provident fund commissioner V P Joy has said that From next month, employees’ PF account will be transferred automatically when they change your job provided they have linked heir Aadhaar number with PF account.
Joy, who is pushing a slew of initiatives in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to make it more worker-friendly, said premature closure of accounts was one of their main challenges, and they were trying to address it by improving services.
2. Davinder Singh Becomes 1st Indian To Qualify For Javelin Finals
Davinder Singh Kang became the first Indian to qualify for the final round of the javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships while his more fancied compatriot Neeraj Chopra crashed out in the qualification round.
Competing in the qualification round Group B on Thursday, Kang, who was carrying a shoulder injury, cleared the automatic qualification mark of 83m in his third and final throw as he sent the javelin to a distance of 84.22m.
3. Chinese satellite sends ‘hack-proof’ message
China has successfully sent “hack-proof” messages from a satellite to Earth for the first time.
The Micius satellite beamed messages to two mountain-top receiving stations 645 km (400 miles) and 1,200 km away.
The message was protected by exploiting quantum physics, which says any attempt to eavesdrop on it would make detectable changes.
Using satellites avoids some limitations that ground-based systems introduce into quantum communication.
4. Venkaiah Naidu sworn in as Vice President
M Venkaiah Naidu was sworn in as the Vice President of India by this morning.
President Ramnath Kovind administered the oath of office to Naidu, at a brief ceremony in the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan attended by political leaders cutting across party lines.
With Naidu becoming the vice-president, for the first time in the history, BJP leaders would occupy top four constitutional posts of the country. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan all come from BJP.
5. Bank of England refuses to change animal-fat banknotes
The Bank of England said on Thursday it would not change the way its new plastic banknotes are made, despite concerns among some vegetarians and religious groups about trace amounts of animal fat used in their production.
The BoE said the only alternative for its polymer banknotes was to use more expensive chemicals derived from palm oil, and that its suppliers were unable to commit to using only palm oil produced in the most environmentally friendly way.
6. Oxford launches Tamil, Gujarati online dictionaries
After the Hindi version, Oxford University Press (OUP) has launched online dictionaries in Tamil and Gujarati as part of its special focus on Indian languages.
The Oxford Global Languages (OGL) initiative began in September 2015 with an aim to build dictionaries and lexicographical resources for around 100 of the world’s languages and to make them available online.

8. PM launches Manthan, pitches for a New India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed District Collectors across the country via video-conference on Wednesday on the theme of “New India – Manthan,” which according to him is aimed at catalysing the country and the people at the grassroots level. The programme was launched on the 75th anniversary of Quit India movement.
The Prime Minister said the Centre wants every individual, each family and organisation to set goals to be reached by 2022. He said the district collectors now have to decide where they want to see their districts in that year.
9. BitBay launches trading platform for digital currency
BitBay, one of the top ten cryptocurrency trading platforms in the world, has launched a dedicated platform for trade and exchange of digital currencies such as bitcoin, litecoin, ether, Lisk, monero, dash and gamecredits.
The company will also work towards creating awareness about digital currencies and also removing misconceptions related to these currencies in a market like India.
10. Ivanka to visit India in support of women entrepreneurship
US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka will lead the American delegation at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India, starting from November 28.
After Indian PM made this announcement in Twitter, US president Trump acknowledged it in the microblogging website.
