 Cabinet approves closure of Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana

Setup to address issues of ECR-category workers

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved closure of the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana (MGPSY)

It was set up in 2012 to address the social security-related issues of the Emigration Check Required (ECR)-category workers going abroad for employment to ECR countries.

 

India, Russia ink pact to build two nuclear reactors in Tamil Nadu

3rd and 4th reactors at the Kudankulam  Plant in TN

India and Russia signed an agreement paving the way for building the third and fourth reactors at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu.

The pact was signed between Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and Russia’s Atomstroyexport

The accord will operationlise the General Framework Agreement (GFA) signed in April this year between the two sides for construction of units 3 and 4 at Kudankulam.

 

Deendayal Rasoi Yojna launched in MP

It was launched in 49 districts.

Madhya Pradesh is all set to join the league of those states which have launched populist subsidised meal scheme for poor with the opening of canteens that provides wholesome food at Rs 5.

The scheme was launched in 49 districts.

This scheme is named after the BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhya.

 

Rajasthan announces cow cess

10% addl cess on stamp duty

Rajasthan government has imposed a 10% cow cess as surcharge on stamp duty for protection and propagation of cows in the state.

The surcharge will be applicable on non-judicial instruments.

The Rajasthan government’s finance department released an order for the cow cess on March 31.

ONGC Everest Expedition

11 member team sent to Mt. Everest

An 11-member ONGC Everest Expedition Team left for Namche Bazar in their mission to scale Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak. This is the first time that an Indian corporate has undertaken a mission to send a team to climb the world’s highest peak.

 

World’s largest solar plant

137 hectares will be set up

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI launched the fourth and final stage of Noor Ouarzazate, the world’s largest solar plant.

The Noor Ouarzazate IV power station in the southern province of Ouarzazate, spanned over an area of 137 hectares (1.37 square km), will be set up with over $75 million with photovoltaic (PV) technology.

The plant will start operations in 2018.
