1. SBI launches web portal for home buyers
The country’s largest commercial bank, State Bank of India, has launched “SBI Realty”, a dedicated portal for home buyers called .
The portal, which lists several real estate projects and homes, can be accessed at www.sbirealty.in and aims to improve operational ease by allowing users to calculate appropriate loan amount to be borrowed, based on their choice of residence, income, and credit profiles.
2. Don’t need to pay toll anymore
A crucial information to our daily lives was revealed by Advocate Hariom Jindal who filed an RTI application seeking nitty-gritty on tolls.
The RTI revealed that people travelling on roads where tolls are collected could pass free of cost if they wait in queues for more than three minutes.
Reportedly, the total waiting time for any vehicle at toll plaza cannot exceed three minutes.
3. Mumbai’s buildings to now get Aadhaar-like UIDs
Mumbai’s buildings is going to get Aadhaar-like identity numbers! The BMC has started the process of issuing unique identification (UID) numbers to the city’s structures.
Stickers mentioning the 15-digit UID will be pasted on the entrance and notice-board. 27 lakh buildings registered in property tax records will be issued such stickers.
The aim is to ease identification of establishments for provision of government services.

5. Govt aims to connect 1.5 lakh gram panchayats via optical fibre by mid-2018
The Union Minister for Electronics & IT and Law & Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that.Around 1.5 lakh gram panchayats will be connected via optical fibre under the national optical fibre network programme of the Centre by mid-2018,
Out Of the targeted 2.5 lakh gram panchayats which is to be connected under this programme, called as ‘BharatNet’, around one lakh has already been connected.
6. Facebook hires former Uber PR chief Rachel Whetstone
Facebook has hired Uber’s former top public relations executive as vice-president of communications for its multiple platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.
Ms. Whetstone left Uber earlier this year amid a number of public relations crises after a former employee’s accusation of sexual harassment stirred a major controversy, surrounding claims of rampant sexism and discrimination within the company.
She served as Howard’s political secretary and was a major player in Conservative politics when the party was up against Tony Blair’s Labour government.
7. Ailing Anilda wins women’s 400m
The Rio Olympian Anilda, was vomiting a few minutes before the start of 400m final at the 57th National senior inter-State athletics championships here on Tuesday evening.

9. “You cannot donate blood”: NACO to LGBTQ
According to National Aids Control Organization, LGBTQ community including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender fall under the category of ‘High Risk Group’ and hence they aren’t allowed to donate blood.
This shocking revelation was made public, following an RTI query filed by activist Chetan Kothari on April 26.
The RTI was received by NACO’s Blood Safety Division on June 22 and was replied to on June 30.
10. India’s GDP may reach $8 trillion
NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya believes that in the next 15 years, India’s gross domestic product (GDP) has the potential to reach $8 trillion, provided India keeps registering an 8% economic growth annually.
By doing so, it will also come very close to entirely eliminating poverty.
